Subject Area: Social Skills Source: Imagination Playground I chose to include this particular article because it discussed the importance of play and how children learn through play at early ages. I have observed through my placements and other work experience that play and free choice are slowly disappearing within the classroom, due to pressure of standardized testing. Instead of indulging in creativity, Kindergartners are faced with an increase pressure to prepare for first grade. This article was also beneficial because it discussed the long term effects of play and how play can influence a child's development in all cognitive domains. Potential Outcomes:

Subject Area: Technology Source: Education World Technology is every where in our school systems and students are expected at an early age to use these devices, especially computers. I included this resource because it highlighted the significance and benefits of Kindergartners learning to use computers and I was surprised to learn how beneficial it could be. Did you know that 5 year old's are expected to have similar computer backgrounds as a 5th grader? Or that the benefits can be seen across subject areas? Implementing structured computer activities in your classroom can be extremely beneficial for students, especially Kindergartners. Potential Outcomes:

Subject Level: Oral language, fine and gross motor skills, self help skills, mathematics. Source: Scholastic I included this specific website because I feel that it would be a great resource for parents that have children beginning Kindergarten. It provides and discusses skills that children should have before entering grade school and how to practice these skills with your child. The tips provided are quite easy and can be practiced any time you have a free moment with your child. For example, reading to your child not only practices their ability to listen but pre-literacy skills as well, and deepens their vocabulary. Children who are frequently read to outside of school have an increased advantage when beginning Kindergarten. I also liked this website because it was written by teachers and explains why these skills are significant. Potential Outcomes:
